Ski-star Hans Grugger recommends:

Gastein's World Cup skier Hansi Grugger, recommends limbering-up exercises.

“Train for the piste!”

Not without reason did Hans Grugger, the extraordinary skiing talent from Gastein, become a successful professional skier.

Besides the right equipment, particularly good physical condition is needed for a carefree skiing holiday. Many people go onto the slopes straight from their office desk or after a long car ride. And this is where danger lurks! Skiing is sport and sport is exertion. “Physical preparation is good not only for your condition – above all it protects you from injuries”, says the professional skier from Gastein, Hans Grugger. Strength, speed, agility, balance and stamina are called for when skiing or snowboarding. Anyone who skis off without prior training risks injury to ligaments, to the knees or even to the shoulder or spinal region. #

Hans Grugger: “I recommend prior training for everyone and this should involve squatting in the downhill position, maybe a little wedel hopping or practising a few cross-country steps. And those who simply cannot wait to get started should at least loosen up a bit before they set off. Done in a group this is great fun!”
