New!!! Senderbahn from the ski centre Angertal directly to the Stubnerkogel
The Senderbahn lift at the Stubnerkogel summit started operation this year.
Two mountains are united
Faster and faster. More and more comfort. More and more convenient: the new Senderbahn lift completes the ski connection between the Stubnerkogel and the Schlossalm. Even non-skiers are now carried to the summit and back in comfort.
The ski region around the Schlossalm – Angertal – Stubnerkogel network of linked runs has one more gondola lift as of this season: in only 8 minutes over 1,000 metres altitude are covered with the Sender lift on the way to the highest point of the Stubnerkogel (2,251 m).
The new Senderbahn lift not only carries the skiers quickly and comfortably from the valley station at Skizentrum Angertal via a middle station on the Bürgerwald downhill to the Stubnerkogel summit. It also contributes on a large scale towards the ski mountains Schlossalm and Stubnerkogel finally becoming united in an attractive way. “That was the aim of our investment policy”, Franz Schafflinger, Director of Gasteiner Bergbahnen, explains. “In addition, with the new 9-person gondola lift combined with the construction of a red and a black downhill run from the Schlossalm down to the Angertal Valley, we achieve an even better dispersal of the stream of skiers in this area” , he continues. After all more than 12,000 winter sports enthusiasts are on the move every day in the heart of Gastein’s skiing region.
Parallel to the ‛black’ Bürgerwald downhill run there is now a new red ski run and, from the Senderbahn lift’s halfway station down to Skizentrum Angertal, there is now a blue run. Franz Schafflinger: “This means that, for the first time, beginners can also venture from the practice area in the Angertal Valley in the direction of the mountain.”
Ropeway-hiking for non-skiers
Until now there was no possibility for non-skiers to ‛link’ via cable-car from Angertal in Bad Hofgastein to Bad Gastein. “Now they simply access the Senderbahn lift, exit at the Stubnerkogel’s highest point and are able to enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding mountains”, Franz Schafflinger is pleased for the non-skiers, who incidentally account for about 30 % of visitors to Gastein in winter. Planned is an additional attraction, a 125m long bridge, suspended from the Senderbahn summit station to the terrace of the summit restaurant on the Stubnerkogel, which – time permitting – will also be constructed in autumn 2008.
Franz Schafflinger: “This means that 365 days on the mountain is no longer just a vision since ropeway-hiking will also have great appeal for our guests in the summer!”
