Although Helmut Taferner 72 lives directly on the Stubnerkogel Mountain his love is skiing in Sportgastein. He says, “I am fascinated by the vastness of the skiing area, the perfectly prepared pistes and the meeting place at the middle station”. The man, who professes himself to its love, has travelled far. The Gasteiner born, lived as a top manger in Vienna but returned however to Gastein again and again and now enjoys being a pensioner with his wife Brigitte on his house at the foot of Gasteins Home Mountain.Helmut Taferner Skis about 100 days a season and he definitely knows what he is talking about when it comes to the Gastein Skiing Area. After all he is a fully qualified skiing instructor and was a successful racer in his younger days. If he could express his wish “it would be perhaps a wider run down from the middle to the bottom station”. Perhaps his wish will be granted.
